Hatha Yoga is the foundation for all my yoga classes. It is an ancient method that includes the practice of asanas (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises), which help to bring peace and space to the mind and body, preparing the body for deeper spiritual practices such as meditation and yoga nidra. It is always my goal to create a safe and sustainable practice environment.
As a Licensed Massage Therapist and educator of anatomy and physiology for two Yoga Alliance 200 hour teacher training programs in Central Florida, it has been important to me to continue my education beyond the 200 hour certification. Some of those certifications are: Yoga Nidra, Restorative Yoga, Facilitated PNF Stretch, Meditation, and Thai Yoga.
I also hold a Biology B.S. degree from UCF and have been fortunate enough to co-create an NSF funded story telling yoga for oyster bed restoration education.
In addition, a few years ago, my husband David and I co-created The Peace Lounge LLC, a live music and yoga practice shared throughout Central Florida.
For me, yoga is the ultimate wellness practice! The practice of getting to know yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually. Learning to listen and how to respond, not only to my internal environment but the external environment as well. This practice - and practice the key word - helps to keep my energy flowing, my body strong, my lifestyle balanced (that takes a lot of practice:-) and my heart connected.
I’ve always loved the quote “Be as you wish to seem” by Socrates. To me it brings the idea that you can choose, you can design a life you love. No matter what happens in your life, the life you were born into, the circumstances, and the luck given to you, if you apply the philosophy of yoga to heart and mind, you learn tools to help you ebb and flow, to be as you wish to seem.
